Australian Football started as a Facebook Page on 14 March 2010 sharing news from external sources and creating football discussion. We were the first in this space in Australia as a non-official football Facebook Page.

As early adopters of Facebook, we were also one of the first to really engage with people who responded to us and one of the first to adopt using our personal names when we responded from the Australian Football Page.

Our original team (pictured below) was Brian Gibson (Founder), Ryan Farrall (Founder), Nat Harrison (Adamopoulus), Anthony Yacoub and Jonathan Gibbs.

On 6 June 2011 we were awarded the Best Use Of Social Media by Footy Fans Down Under voted for by football fans. This evening was the first time the Australian Football team had met each other in person.

Our strength came from having five moderators, coverage across multiple states and coverage of all levels of Australian football.

The social network grew in subsequent years to Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Patreon and Periscope and the re-launch of the Australian Football website in late January 2019.

There is also a regular email newsletter.
