Multiple news publishers, both in Australia and overseas, are reporting that former Liverpool, North Queensland Fury, Perth Glory and English international, Robbie Fowler will be announced as the new Brisbane Roar coach tomorrow.
This will be Fowler’s second career coaching role after a short stint in Thailand as player/manager with Muangthong United.
The former Liverpool striker played 54 matches in the A-League; 26 with North Queensland Fury, 28 with Perth Glory, and scored 11 goals.

The appointment comes after Socceroos legend, John Aloisi, stepped down from the role in late December. At the time the club was ninth on the A-League ladder with one win and five losses from their nine matches.
Many pundits suggest Aloisi quit before he was pushed out the door.
Darren Davies, who replaced John Aloisi, has been coaching the team on an interim basis.
Back in January, Brisbane Roar’s announced it had appointed an eight-person panel to oversee the recruitment of its next A-League Head Coach.
The panel included former defender at the club, Jade North, and
high performance manager, Craig Duncan.
Fox Sports analyst and former Socceroo, Mark Bosnich says: “I think it’s a fantastic move.
“He has very little [mangerial] experience but he’s played under some of the greatest managers around.
“He will run a tight ship.
“He knows what it takes to get success.”
The impending announcement has divided A-League fans.
So we kind of dismissed the Robbie Fowler-Brisbane Roar rumours as fantasy, no A-League club in dire need of an experienced hand would turn to a coach with such a sparse resume… would they?! Genuinely now seems a possibility. Utter madness. #ALeagueFC— A-League FC (@ALeagueFC) April 22, 2019
Multiple reports @brisbaneroar to announce Robbie Fowler as new coach tomorrow. Thoughts? He brings profile and pedigree but lack of coaching experience makes it a gamble. Could be a masterstroke, could be a disaster. Certainly adds intrigue to roar’s off-season. #ALeague— Ed Jackson (@edjacko) April 22, 2019
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is the new manager of Brisbane Roar. Official announcement tomorrow. Brilliant opportunity for him and a great appointment by the A-League club. #LFC— James Pearce (@JamesPearceEcho) April 22, 2019
Hopefully Robbie Fowler gets announced tomorrow as @brisbaneroar manager. That kind of name can only make the club and @ALeague more attractive to potential big name marquee players. Maybe a sugar hit that the league needs #fowler #robbiefowler #aleague— Rob Cornthwaite (@robcornthwaite) April 22, 2019
