Central Coast Mariners Supporters - Yellow Army

Yellow Army Polarises Followers After ‘Mulvey Out’ Post And Then … Wait … He’s Sacked

The Central Coast Mariners supporters group, Yellow Army, has unearthed divided opinions among its supporter base after a post urging Head Coach Mike Mulvey be sacked after the club’s record making loss to Wellington Phoenix.

The Mariners were defeated 8-2 at Central Coast Stadium on Saturday night.

The result comes after the Mariners gave up a 2-0 lead earlier in the season to lose to the Phoenix in Round 13 in which would have been the Gosford-based club’s first win of the season.

Now there’s an argument that supporters groups should steer clear of boardroom politics, at least publicly anyway, and facilitate discussion rather than take a position, but in this case emotions are running high after only a single win from 21 matches this season.

The most popular response to the divisive post was: “It ain’t the coach. It’s so f****** not. It ain’t the players. ITS THE F****** OWNER!?”

The Yellow Army responded with: “… check our other posts, Mulvey is to blame for a lot of the players we’ve signed this season and for what most would consider decent players now leaving?”

90% of fans appeared to be supportive of Mulvey in response to the post and more critical of club chairman Mike Charlesworth.

One supporter retorted: “Mulvey out, really???. Look beyond the manager that is tied to his decision’s.”

Others focused on club players with comments like: “Hoole and Kennedy out!”

As I write this article … Mulvey has just been sacked … Yikes! THE END.

Well … more to come …
